Short Term Structured Play Sessions Providing Support and Short Term Breaks For Parents and Carers

We are an independant, Ofsted registered group (URN 2498853 for Swaythling, and EY434577 for Thornhill) and in 2016 were rated 'Good' at Thornhill. Our staff are a mixture of qualified professionals and dedicated volunteers, all of whom are CRB/DBS checked. Children come to Opportunity Group from all over Southampton. They, or their family, may have been referred by professionals or simply have heard about us through the grapevine. There could be learning, physical, emotional or health difficulties within the family - we provide support for just about every area of need. Parents/carers may stay during the session or leave their child with our staff as an opportunity for a valuable short break and they often value the opportunity to meet others in similar, difficult circumstances. Therefore, some stay on site and chat to others who understand what they are feeling. We also have good links with health professionals, who visit our groups, giving advice on issues such as toileting, behaviour, sleeping, communication etc. and providing a non-threatening environment for parents to meet with them.
